While the raw CPU performance trails the M4 Pro in multi-core benchmarks, the inclusion of an optional NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4050 GPU gives the XPS 14 an edge in specific CUDA-accelerated workflows and entry-level gaming. The hybrid architecture of the Core Ultra series focuses on efficiency, though it still falls short of the MacBook’s battery longevity during sustained heavy tasks.

Dell’s InfinityEdge display remains its greatest strength. The 14.5-inch 3.2K OLED touch display offers 100% DCI-P3 color gamut coverage, making it an excellent choice for photographers and UI/UX designers. The 120Hz refresh rate ensures smooth scrolling and animations, though the peak brightness (around 500 nits) doesn’t quite reach the HDR heights of the MacBook’s Liquid Retina XDR. The touch functionality is a major plus for Windows users who prefer a more interactive workspace.
Port Selection and Thermal Profile
Dell has opted for an all-USB-C approach, providing three Thunderbolt 4 ports and a microSD card slot. While sleek, this often necessitates the use of the included USB-C to USB-A and HDMI dongle. Thermally, the XPS 14 manages heat well for a Windows laptop of this thickness, but the fans are noticeably louder than the MacBook Pro when the RTX 4050 is fully engaged. It is a machine designed for the aesthetic-conscious professional who needs Windows-specific software compatibility.
